Do Good Leaders Make Good Followers?

Wednesday, November 11, Noon to 1:00 p.m.
Penn State Great Valley, Malvern
Main 228

Can good leaders develop followers into moral agents? Do different leadership styles (transformational vs. transactional) have a different effect on follower moral development? Based on the survey and experimental studies, Dr. Weichun Zhu, assistant professor, management and organization, and his collaborators found that transformational leadership and active transactional leadership have a positive effect on priming follower moral identity, and that transformational leadership has a greater positive effect on follower moral identity than active transactional leadership. Dr. Zhu will also discuss the theoretical contributions, practical implications, and research recommendations of these study results. The Penn State Great Valley School of Graduate Professional Studies’ Research Showcase highlights the research projects of our faculty.

This free presentation is open to faculty, staff, students, and the community. Seating is limited; please RSVP to Cathy O’Neill at cxo10@psu.edu or call 610-725-5324.
