Lunar Lions Land at Great Valley
Thursday, February 20
7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Great Valley campus, Malvern
Since 2011, the Penn State Lunar Lions team has been pursuing the Google Lunar XPRIZE, the first privately funded mission to the surface of the moon, as the only university-led team in the competition. The winner of the Grand Prize must land a robotic spacecraft on the moon in 2015, and return HD video and pictures back to earth. Successful completion will provide a proof-of-concept for Penn State's model for collaboration between the University, private companies, and NASA. With more than 80 students on the team, Penn State is creating not only a model for future missions, but also providing hands-on experience to the next generation of industry leaders.
Meet representatives of the amazing student team and their faculty and staff leaders, and learn how they are working to put a Nittany Lion craft on the moon.
