M.Ed. in Special Education, 2007
Second and Third Grade Teacher, Collegium Charter School

I am a classroom teacher who came to Great Valley after I recognized that I had an increasing number of children with special needs in my classroom. I knew that Penn State Great Valley's Special Education professors had an excellent reputation, so I enrolled in the M.Ed. program.

The biggest benefits of my experience at Penn State have been the endless research-based strategies I have taken back to my school and applied in the classroom. My fellow teachers come to me when they need help handling a situation with a special education student, and I have been asked to join our instructional support team and advise my colleagues on how to keep at-risk students up to proficiency.

The professors in Penn State Great Valley's Special Education program really care about their students. Since graduating I have maintained contact with Dr. Scheeler and several others. When I have questions or need a reference, they are always accessible and eager to help.

Graduate school was not easy, and although the work was challenging, it was absolutely worth it. I am confident and prepared to work with all types of students and I continually recommend Penn State Great Valley to the teachers at my school.
